Carbon filter sizing
A carbon filter removes odor only if the air passes through it slowly enough. Pick the filter by the fan's CFM and the duct size, and expect to replace it every 12–18 months.
| Fan size | Typical CFM range | Filter flange |
|---|---|---|
| 4" | up to 200 | 4" |
| 6" | 201–400 | 6" |
| 8" | 401–750 | 8" |
| 10" | 751–1100 | 10" |
Placement
Put the filter inside the tent, at the top, with the fan pulling air through the filter and pushing it out through the ducting. That way all the air leaving the tent passes through the carbon.
Humidity shortens carbon life
Carbon that stays damp loses its capacity sooner. Keep humidity under control in the tent, and replace the filter sooner if the air is often humid.
Pre-filter sleeves
The outer sleeve catches dust before it reaches the carbon. Clean or replace it regularly to keep airflow up and the carbon working longer.
